Multi-Sensory Interactive Learning Environment (M.I.L.E.)

Designed with teachers and caregivers in mind, the Multi-Sensory Interactive Learning Environment (M.I.L.E.) is an infinitely customizable space that can be adapted to the sensory needs of any user and facilitate learning objectives of any school curriculum. By combining lighting and projection with sounds, aromas, tactile elements, and even atmospheric conditions, the M.I.L.E. engages all of its users’ senses simultaneously to provide an immersive sensory room experience.

Following an intensive two-year development program, our sensory specialists produced the IRiS Room Director software, an accessible system that enables educators to create multi-sensory immersive scenarios tailored to their subject. Simply dragging and dropping elements into the software - such as photographs, videos, text, and even Microsoft PowerPoint presentations - then integrating them with the IRiS Wireless products in your multi-sensory learning environment allows you to create interactive learning experiences bespoke to your users’ needs.

At Experia USA, we understand that children with sensory processing disorders and learning difficulties can be more receptive to alternative types of learning, which is why our multi-sensory learning environments are designed to put the user in control.  While Visual and Auditory learners may gravitate towards our interactive projection systems or soundboards, Kinaesthetic and Tactile learners may benefit from moving around a soft play padded space, engaging with physical objects rather than projections.

Accessibility is equally important to the function of our multi-sensory immersive spaces, which is why we have developed various highly sensitive switches that can be controlled in a number of ways. From the simplicity of the IRiS Qube and IRiS Color Selector to our sophisticated, lightweight switches, which can be attached to head braces and operated using tiny head movements, our intuitive controls ensure that there are no barriers between your users and the resources in your multi-sensory learning space.

While the M.I.L.E. was developed with special education in mind, these immersive sensory rooms provide opportunities for teachers in mainstream schools to be more creative with their lessons, translating information from their textbooks into enriching learning experiences. Transport your students to the Old West with the smell of gun smoke and projections of cattle drives, or dive into the ocean with our Under the Sea effect wheel and soothing sounds of whale song.

However you want to engage your students and whatever the sensory needs of your users, our immersive sensory room design team will help you create a space that meets your requirements. Contact Experia USA today via email or by calling 1-800-882-4045 to discuss your multi-sensory interactive learning environment with one of our specialists.
